SUSAN'S SCRAPBOOK FOR 2003

OFF TO DC

Susan was named a Teacher Recognition Awardee by the Presidential Scholar's Program -- a section of the Department of Education in Washington DC.  She was nominated by OCHSA student (and Presidential Honoree) Jackson Tobiska, who named Susan as the educator who has most influenced him.  Jackson is one of only 16 students nationwide to be honored for his excellence in the arts!  They both visited Washington DC to celebrate Jackson's great achievement! Check out the site! http://www.ed.gov/offices/OIIA/Recognition/PSP/

  MEET MARKET

Susan stars in the new independent film called Meet Market, about a group of lonely aspirants on the LA singles scene who hook up at their local Ralph's grocery store where they can see and be seen by some of their dubiously eligible fellow singles, all the while hoping for that one magical relationship that will finally click.  Susan plays "Tess" an LA attorney bored with her unchanging life and bland relationships, but her life changes abruptly when she meets a punk rocker whose unconventional ideas alter her world forever.  If you've seen  the indie, "Kissing Jessica Stein" you might know what is in store for Susan's character!  The film was shot with an incredible cast including: Elizabeth Berkley ("Showgirls"), Laurie Holden ("The Magestic"), Alan Tudyk ("A Knight's Tale"), Missy Pyle ("Galaxy Quest"), and more.

  RIVER OF STARS CABARET CONCERT

Susan sang the maiden voyage concert for  Portland, Oregon's River of Stars Cabaret series, which is presented onboard the Portland Spirit, a cruising ship.  She performed her first 2 of 3 concerts at night, after dark.  The third show was in the afternoon... during daylight... so, as she sang her concert, she was a bit surprised at how distracting it was to see the beautiful natural beauty of Oregon as the ship cruised the river!  But what a terrific experience it was!
