CHRISTOPHER MCGOVERN – BIO

CHRISTOPHER McGOVERN's work as Arranger and Musical Director was heard on

the National Tour of FAME as well as the IMAGE/High Five DVD of Rich Little's THE PRESIDENTS, which aired nationally on PBS. Internationally, he did the arrangements for Walt Disney Worldwide Entertainment's LION KING (Paris and Hong Kong) and ALADDIN for Tokyo Disney directed & choreographed by Tony-nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett. He produced/arranged and orchestrated CDs for Tony-nominees Rebecca Luker (LEAVING HOME) on PS Classics and Susan Egan (COFFEE HOUSE and WINTER TRACKS) on LML Music. All three releases feature his original songs and two were "Top Ten Vocal CDs of 2004" by Talkin' Broadway.com. He also produced critically-acclaimed solo CDs for Tony-nominee Alison Fraser (MEN IN MY LIFE) and original RENT cast member Gilles Chiasson (SLOW DOWN), both on Original Cast Records.

As a composer, McGovern’s musical LIZZIE BORDEN (lyrics co-written with

Amy Powers) ran at the Stoneham Theatre in Boston and played sold-out runs at the American Stage Company (starring Alison Fraser) and at Goodspeed Musicals (starring Christiane Noll.)  And his latest creation, BACKWARDS IN HIGH HEELS about Ginger Rogers has played to sold-out crowds and critical acclaim at Florida Stage and is scheduled for productions in regional theatres across the country. He also wrote the score for Theatreworks/USA's UGLY DUCK (Promenade Theatre, NYC & National tour), and his other original scores for children with Stages Of Imagination have won two National Parents Choice Awards, and two Telly Cable Awards.

McGovern has served as Musical Director/Arranger and Orchestrator for many Off-Broadway shows including the Outer Critics Circle-nominated THAT'S LIFE, THE JAZZ SINGER, FISHKIN TOUCH (w/Mike Burstyn) and SHEBA.. Regional credits include BEEHIVE, LITTLE SHOP, TOMMY, GODSPELL, JOSEPH, THE LAST FIVE YEARS, SPITFIRE GRILL and many others, as well as having conducted shows for Roslyn Kind (national tour '01), Tovah Feldshuh, William Katt, Marni Nixon and LAW & ORDER'S Tamara Tunie among others.

STEPHEN COOK – BIO

Stephen Cook received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees from the University of South Carolina where he studied composition with Dr. Samuel Douglas and piano performance and pedagogy with Dr. Max Camp.  Additional studies were with Edith Oppens at the Aspen School of Music and with Dr. Manuel Alvarez at the Conductors Institute, University of South Carolina.  While completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California, Dr. Cook served as an assistant lecturer in the Keyboard Studies Department under the direction of Stewart Gordon.  He serves on the Executive Board of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, is a former research program specialist with the Music Intelligence Neural Development Institute, and spent several years heading the piano conservatory at  the Orange County High School of the Arts in Santa Ana. He currently holds faculty appointments with the Colburn School of Performing Arts, Los Angeles, and Whittier College.  Stephen Cook is a frequent clinician and adjudicator for such organizations as the Music Teachers’ Association of California, the California Association of Professional Music Teachers and the Southwestern Youth Music Festival. He recently adjudicated the Pro-Romania International Piano Competition in Bucharest, Romania, and frequently appears in concert with Susan Egan.

  

ROXANNA WARD - BIO

Cabaret-comic extraordinaire, Roxanna Ward hails from Laguna Beach, Ca. Her engaging blend of piano bar and comedy caused one reviewer to observe, "It's as if Bette Midler and Steve Allen had a love child." A pianist, musical arranger, producer, and conductor (Milwaukee Symphony), Ward has worked with legends Dolly Parton, Laura Nyro, Tennessee Ernie Ford, and Bea Arthur. As a songwriter, she penned the R&B single "Remember Who You Are," recorded by the late Phyllis Hyman, which reached # 16 on Billboard's jazz chart.
